Unveiling Rwanda's Hidden Gems: Advocates for Africa Journey

In the heart of Africa lies a land of vibrant culture, breathtaking landscapes, and a resilient community eager for change. Our team of seven people from Middle Tennessee, along with a group of passionate advocates from Alabama, is embarking on a life-changing adventure to Rwanda with the renowned organization "Advocates for Africa." As we prepare to immerse ourselves in the beauty of this nation, we are filled with anticipation for the transformative experiences that await us.

Exploring Rwanda's Heartland:
Located just an hour and a half away from Kigali, Rwanda's capital, our journey will center around supporting the Christian Academy, a beacon of hope for local students. Our days will be filled with joyous laughter and boundless energy as we engage in playtime with these incredible children and immerse ourselves in their classes. We cannot wait to witness their eagerness to learn and experience the unique teaching methods employed by the Academy.

The Women's Retreat: Empowering Through Knowledge:
One of the highlights of our trip will be the Women's Retreat, where we will have the opportunity to empower women from various regions by imparting knowledge on hygiene and self-care. With a shared commitment to fostering personal growth, we will gather to exchange stories, share wisdom, and cultivate a sense of sisterhood. Through interactive workshops, we aim to equip these resilient women with the tools they need to nurture their physical and emotional well-being.

Spreading Kindness, One Village at a Time:
Beyond our time at the Christian Academy and the Women's Retreat, we will venture into neighboring villages, armed with love, kindness, and a genuine desire to make a difference. As we step foot into these communities, we will lend an open ear to listen to the stories and aspirations of the locals, learning from their experiences and sharing in their joys and struggles. Logistical Challenges and Innovative Solutions:
Advocates for Africa has ingeniously set up a campus, encompassing the school and missionary housing, which acts as a hub for our activities. Recognizing the logistical hurdles in delivering supplies directly to the campus, we have devised a creative solution. Utilizing our "free checked bags" allowance with the airlines, we will be transforming heavy-duty storage tubs into unconventional luggage. By filling these tubs with essential supplies, we will ensure that the much-needed resources reach the campus alongside our dedicated team.
